  1. We adopted a 7 year old from this orphanage last August and it has been a great experience. These kids want families and are well prepared for adoption. If you have specific questions, ask! We want all his friends to come home.

  2. From which Shenzhen orphanage did you adopt (Bao'an or Shenzhen City -which I believe is Longgang)? Can you tell us how you feel they prepared your child for adoption? Did you vist the SWI and if so, how did your new son respond to going back and saying goodbye a second time?
    Thank you !

  3. We adopted from Bao'An. I feel they prepared him very, very well for the adoption for which I am so grateful. His transition to speaking English was very easy. We did not have a chance to go back and visit the orphanage. We talk about doing that someday in the future. Bao'An is also good about keeping in touch afterward with emails and cards.

  4. Hello,

We came home in June of 2009 with out 7 yr. old from Bao'an SWI, Shenzhen. At first, she really was not happy. Life at this orphanage was as good as it gets in an orphanage. I visited it even during the flu scare. They take good care of their children, and she was very content there. She would not hold my hand, hug me, etc for a while after meeting me and coming home. It took a while before she wasn't unhappy leaving the orphanage.
Now, a year later, she says she is happy that she is now 'home". She gives me hugs and kisses at night. She is very smart and very athletic, not to mention stunning.
The road was rocky at first, but one year and one month later, it has smoothed out. Life is great !
    Take care,
    Lee Ann

  5. We adopted a four year old in 2007. She picked up the language very quickly and seems like she's always been part of the family--except for all the daily reminders of how thankful she is to have a family ;) She is truly a joy and she's made me want to adopt another "older" child as soon as I can get my husband on board :)

  6. Thank you all for sharing. I don't know if you realize how much it means to those of us who are in process for an older child to hear any (I MEAN ANY) small amount of information about your experiences. It helps SOOO much. Thank you and please keep the information coming.
